Ravel

I watched her unravel, in front of my eyes.

Through years full of sorrows, secrets and lies.

A life as it happens, is death in reverse.

The end is a given, and that is our curse.

To know we are mortal, we fracture and break.

And still keep on living, with every mistake.

The past may define us, it is not who we are

It cannot control us, it is but a scar.

Something we live with, and somehow survive.

To live is an option, the choice is to thrive.

Death is not the end, life is just the beginning.

Your story is your life, not your death.

Live while you can, breathe it in.

All of it.

Simulacrum

A battered and broken person with a frayed and fragile soul Their simulated feelings are fables full of holes

Their dreams a vain illusion

of a life that cannot be

Their faith beyond redemption

that person they are me

Beyond what lies tomorrow

today remains the same

What lives beneath the shadows

is what we cannot name

A near and distant future

We strive to never meet

Our death a faded echo

of what we cannot beat

If all we are is atoms

and ignorance is bliss

we all believe in nothing

and heaven is a myth

What lies we tell believe them

for that is all we are

Us broken and battered people

with barely beating hearts

A life is what we make it

Forever is a lie

Tomorrow is beyond us

No matter how we try

The person isn't broken

but battered to the core

They stubbornly keep living

though life is but a chore

We cannot bleed forever

Our wounds must always heal

Our worlds exist together

As long as life is real

Intent, Consent, Respect

Intent is deliberate, not accidental.
Consent is not negotiable.
Respect is aftercare

Safety is not a privilege of the strong.
Those who oppose it benefit from things staying the same.

Violence is not character, it is force.

Orange and Green

Capitalism is Economic Cannibalism without Empathy

Cannibalism is the Strong Consuming the Weak

Oppression has many Forms and Faces

Heaven and Earth are the Inheritance of the Meek

Respect is Asking rather than Demanding

Dignity is Accepting the Response

Greenland isn’t Green

Envy Is

Contrasts

Everyone has opinions, not everyone has a voice

Everyone has options, not everyone has a choice

All would live forever, but everybody dies

All would hear the truth, yet everybody lies

Absolution

One morning, as I was walking through the valley of the shadow of death in downtown Reykjavik, I came upon the fragments of a broken childhood fluttering about in the wind.

The unspeakable made into words,
a life lost before it began,
a betrayal of trust,
sorrow.

The cancer of hate and bitterness will consume you from the inside out if you don’t evict it.

Absolution is forgiving those who have harmed you, not because they deserve it but because you do.

Know yourself, love yourself
Love more, not less.
Hate less, not more.

the last kiss

a world ends
not with a bang
with a whimper
as one world ends
two begin
as we part
beat still my silent heart
love more, not less
